We the People ! We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America. As written, the preamble to our Constitution simply states our basic rights as Americans and sets a high standard by which we must hold ourselves and help other nations aspire to if they so desire. Before we can promote this expectation globally, we must first live it here at home. Actions do speak louder than words. We are the People, and the People shall be heard, but not without your help! This country, with its institutions, belongs to the people who inhabit it. Whenever they shall grow weary of the existing government, they can exercise their constitutional right of amending it, or exercise their revolutionary right to overthrow it.Abraham Lincoln.
