Home Land Security
In 2004 I stated… Our nation is being ruled by fear generated by leaders who failed us when the US was attacked on 9-11. Because of their failure, additional security measures have since been enacted to ‘protect’ us from terrorist.

In the past, I have voiced displeasure to the endless flyovers of our cities. This so-called protection was costing billions of dollars; not to mention the wear-and- tear on our aircraft and manpower. Additionally, many cities have not been repaid by this Federal Agency for expenses accrued.

I believe that this fear being generated, and the search for Osama Bin Laden, is to divert our attention from the debt our nation is incurring; as of 9-26-06 at 2:02:35 AM the total is: $8.469, 776,152,080.81. That is rounded to $8.5 TRILLION. This is an astronomical number!
Since 9-30-05 it has risen 1.54 billion per day.

The current foreign policy needs reviewing and the federal agencies that are responsible for gathering and analyzing intelligence must develop a centralized database that could lead to better analysis of intelligence data.

Currently…Our government under the leadership of both the President and my Incumbent Opponent continue to use fear to expand measures to inconvenience the activities of law abiding citizens and to rape them of their basic rights.

The airport security continues even if the time for its effectiveness has long past. The scroll we see almost daily on our TV giving a color level for terror is meaningless, but promotes fear of the viewer. Legislation has just been passed to ensure that our leaders are protected from prosecution at the expense of others rights and freedoms as defined in the US Constitution and the articles of the Geneva Convention.

Cronyism in Homeland Security management has been proven to be a detriment in delivery of services in the case of recent hurricanes. Personally, as a past VISTA, thereby being an Americorps Alum, I have been given the opportunity to serve in the Americorps effort when it is developed to provide long term assistance in the Gulf area. I have done so and wait for that program.

Budget
An economic and fiscal policy needs to be enacted that requires fiscal responsibility. The Federal Government should be managed within its means and not continue to build deficits. A balanced budget must be maintained each fiscal year with surpluses used to reduce the deficit and return stability to various trust funds.

Tax Reform
First and foremost, taxes collected must pay the nation’s bills (including the deficit and budget requirements). The tax system should be simple and fair, also paperless where possible. Tax adjustments should be made to the benefit of the citizens when deemed fiscally responsible and not be used as an election ploy.

Entitlements
Fiscal integrity must be returned to trust funds such as Social Security, Medicare, government retirements and all programs dealing with future obligations to individual citizens.

Specifically, a study needs to be instituted to determine if the Medigap Supplemental Insurance premium, (insurance that pays before Medicare begins paying), most retirees must pay to have full coverage, is necessary.

Ethics
We should require the highest level of ethical conduct by all of our government officials. Limit gifts, favors, and outside sources of income while in office and after leaving office for all levels of government.
