Pro-Life, The Right to Choose, or Consider 95-10
I have supported the pro-life movement since the beginning. However, as time passes and new initiatives are presented, I feel it important to modify my stand when it makes sense.

I do not believe that the Supreme Court will ever overturn Roe Vs Wade. So this gives a woman the right to choose. That being the case, I am drawn to be a part of the effort of Democrats for Life and its 95-10 proposal.

95-10 hopes to reduce the number of abortions by 95% in 10 years with a series of action programs during that period.

It seems that while much talking is done in this area, the House of Representatives is not the dominant force compared to the US Senate or even State governments across the land.
I was impressed by statement from the Democrats for life in Texas when it was written: "It is consistent with the root principles of the Democrat Party and the feminist movement to respect life and to encourage the development of everyone's full potential.”

In backing this initiative, I would hope to welcome back those Democrats or members of the Reform Party those who had problems with recent party positions and still recognize the right of choice so many are voicing. For more information log on Democrats for Life and see how they hope to assist all those in time of need in this area.
Foreign Policy

Gun Control
Enacting new laws will not make a difference. We need to enforce current laws and make parents more responsible for in-home firearms.

Reassessment
Assessments on homes is out of control. If the current legislature does not effectively address this issue, I want to be involved in an attempt to remedy this situation. Perhaps longer terms between assessments can be established. A freeze on elderly owners assessments can be introduced. Additionally, local hearings on assessments should be held to open the discussion on how and when assessments are performed.

Education
The 2nd Congressional District contains much of the Rockwood School District. Because I walked in a demonstration during my grade school years which led to the consolidation of many small one room schools into the Eureka School District, later known as the Rockwood School District, I bring a unique quality to serve the hope and needs of the District. I hope to continue my deep-seeded commitment to education and make no child left behind more workable.

While I honor the past, I do look to the future and want to become the voice of Rockwood in the government. I have filed an application with the district to become a part of the long range planning committee to assist them and other nonpublic schools in the area.

As a member of Sacred Heart Church in Eureka, I am in a position to know the private school’s outlook and the needs, which could be useful in other nonpublic schools of the area.

Environment
In the past, I initiated ideas to get Times Beach and riverfront properties removed for safety and health reasons. I maintained the Conservation Commission accesses in a safe and healthy condition. I transported the original Elk herd to Lone Elk Park and assisted the Bird Sanctuary in the early years. I have worked the land for years growing food for our nation.

The supply of potable water is one of the greatest problems our nation faces in the current century. This problem may come sooner than expected in Missouri because we have a good supply. As less fortunate areas bid for the use of the Missouri and other river resources, awareness needs to be heightened and supplies regulated as this can become an urgent problem to our own water supply.
